This is an old silo that hasn't been used in years. The plants have taken over the entrance, making it impossible to even get inside. When we arrived, a large flock of buzzards were circling overhead, but the more we walked around, the farther away they flew.
Nature
Valley View.
This is one of my favorite views of the valley. You can see for miles on a clear day.
The Red Door.
The First Curve.
This is the first real curve into the valley. This is where all the farms begin and neighbors are measured in miles instead of feet. The sky always seems more blue on this end of the valley. During the warmer months, cows are speckled across the green fields. Sometimes they get their heads stuck in the fence while going after a particularly juicy looking patch of grass. Don't worry, a bit a struggling normally gets them free; their stomachs full of luscious, green grass.
Field Cottage.
A few weeks ago, I took a drive with my cousin down the road we drive to get home. She's a painter, so she wanted photos for landscape paintings, and I'd always wanted to spend some quality time with our road, so we went together. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, clear skies or not, this road always takes my breath away.
This old, run down cottage is in the middle of a cow field (like so many of the others on this road). When I see it, I try and imagine what it would be like be there when it was being used.
Over the next few weeks, I'll highlight my favorite spots along the way. This is the first of many to come.
