Mason Day 2011.
Mason Day is the day of the year that George Mason University celebrates itself. There are carnival rides, popcorn, cotton candy, local band performances, and free stuff everywhere. It lasts all day and into the night when the featured musical guests come out to perform.
It was my first time doing concert photography, and I really enjoyed it. I have a background in music, so while I'm taking photos, I find myself becoming immersed in the music as well. I think I might try to do more concerts in the future.
This year, the featured bands were You Hang Up (an alternative rock band, mostly known for their most famous member: Frankie Muniz), and Plain White T's (Wonders of the Younger is their newest album). Plain White T's are amazing live; lead singer Tom Higgenson secretly found his way to the back of the audience at one point to perform "Hey, There Delilah." The effect was an intimate/acoustic/café-style moment. Even on stage, they all had genuine personality that made you feel like you were longtime friends. If you ever have a chance to see them, I highly recommend it.
